Response to any emergency or disaster can and frequently does involve more than one agency. Disasters in particular will more often than not involve a response from numerous local, state, and federal agencies.

The federal government possesses vast resources with which to respond to a presidentially declared disaster, or any event of “national significance.” Listed below are federal agencies tasked with responding to disasters.
