The county government response to emergencies or disasters can involve many diffferent agencies within government.
Emergency Management
Emergency management agencies are at the heart of any county level response to emergencies or disasters. Emergency managers work with a variety of county agencies and local government to coordinate response efforts. They also provide a wealth of information for the public on preparedness, mitigation, and recovery efforts after a disaster occurs.
For information on what your county emergency management agency is doing to prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters, please click on your state in the table on the state or county preparedness page. Or click on the NACO link on this page or on the county preparedness page.
Once you at at your state’s web portal, you will need to search for your county’s emergency management agency. Or you can call them to ask if they have a web site. A future addition to this web site will be to add county links for every county in every state that has a web site. A recent inspection of a few states has shown that not every county in every state has a web site. this is especially true for small counties with limited resources.
